Allison Chinchar works as a weather forecaster for CNN as well as HLN. She is often featured on CNN's HLN Weekend Express and CNN International's HLN New Day Weekend. Before being hired by CNN in June 2015, she worked as meteorologist for regional stations located in Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was a meteorologist for hurricanes and blizzards as well as flooding, wildfires, and received an Emmy for the coverage she gave of Dorian, a hurricane that struck the Bahamas. Dorian which struck the Bahamas, in 2019. In April 2011, she covered the super-tornado outbreak, where 350 tornadoes struck the Southeastern United States within four days. Over 200 of them happened on April 27, 2011. She has covered climate change, but also the eruptions of volcanoes and earthquakes as a result of her expertise in environmental science. Chinchar earned a bachelor's of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from The Ohio State University. Chinchar is a part of several organizations, including those of the American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
