Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to a family of 12 poor children that would be raised with them eventually. She learned early how to get out of her difficulties through her vibrant and imaginative imagination. Her songs were written before she was able to read or write. When she got her first guitar at the age of 8, she began performing at radio stations in Knoxville, Tennessee. In the same year, she released her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. Her name was made on the local circuit while in high school, however she wanted to perform on a larger stage. She moved to Nashville following her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. The syndicated television show of Porter Wagoner required a new singer at around this point. Parton was offered the gig and in the year 1967, she signed with RCA Records in 1968 and became a member of in the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. Parton quit the Wagoner's band in 1974 after her own singles like Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene outsold the collaborations. Parton's hit song, I'll Never Love You (for Wagoner), was able to reach the No. #1 spot following their separated. First time, in 1974.
