Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines the football scholarship of his family and service to his community. The first time, he was raised with Lucious as well as Jessie Selmon on a farm near Eufala within Oklahoma as one of the nine children they had. Also, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma on the field of football. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. Over the course of three seasons, Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. As an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded an award for his third time in the year 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work during his college years. Following college, he relocated to Tampa and played nine years for Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro 3 times. He then began his professional career. In 1988, he was working as an Account Relation Manager for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds as a college player he was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, he became the assistant director of Athletics at University of South Florida. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame was named for his as a member in the year 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented their Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
